The Grand Canyon, AZ.

As one of the seven wonders of the world, it’s hardly surprising to find out that the Grand Canyon is on my list of places to see. So when Vicky and I booked our hotel in Vegas (read about that here) we started looking into ways to get to the Grand Canyon…

There are multiple tour companies based around Las Vegas that offer trips to the Grand Canyon – some are fairly cheap, others are a lot more expensive, some prices depend on which bit of the Grand Canyon you’re visiting. We ended up going with the Grand Canyon Tours Company which has some slightly dubious reviews on Google. However, we were pleasantly surprised.

The tour company offers trips to both the South Rim and the West Rim of the Canyon, options to stay overnight, helicopter tours and more. We opted for the South Rim bus tour (mainly because it was on offer for around $80 per person, compared to the $115 of the West Rim tour) which left our hotel at around 6.45am. We arrived back at the hotel at around 10pm, so it was a long old day, but so worthwhile..

It was about a 5 hour journey to the Grand Canyon (including a free lunch stop/buffet thing), but boy was it worth it! The only words that left my mouth for the three hours that we were in the park were “blooming heck”. I was literally speechless. These amazing, old rocks that are just filled with history were surrounding us literally as far as the eye could see. It was insane. Obviously, we had some great photo opportunities too, which we clearly weren’t going to pass up (we also posted them to Instagram and Facebook just to make all our friends at home jealous, duh!). Words honestly can’t describe the Canyon, so here are some photos to try and do it for me (oh and a picture of the AZ sunset for good measure..).
